Anthony (Tony)
Joseph Romano
June 16, 1950 — June 9, 2025
Anthony ("Tony") Joseph Romano, 74, of Wayne, NJ, formerly of Wood-Ridge and Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, June 9, 2025.
Beloved and supportive husband of Barbara Jean (nee Meunier) Romano for 47 years. Devoted father of son Vincent Daniel Romano and his wife, Emily, and daughter Joanne Marie Romano. Dear brother of the late Joseph Frank Romano. He is also survived by two grandsons and cherished aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, in-laws, and caretakers who enjoyed his incredible sense of humor throughout the years.
Born on June 16, 1950 in New York City to the late Mary (Campione) and Vincent Romano, Tony's close-knit family moved to Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey in 1970, before he relocated to Wood-Ridge, NJ in 1978, and Wayne, NJ in 1996.
Tony was a graduate of St. Agnes Catholic High School located in Manhattan, NY, and went on to graduate from St. John's University located in Queens, NY where he received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Business Management. Before retiring in 2010, Tony owned and operated TR Sales LLC, a pipe, valve, and fitting distributorship located in Wayne, NJ for over 30 years. Tony concurrently worked part-time at the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority's Meadowlands Racetrack as a parimutuel seller for over 20 years.
Despite facing significant tragedy as a relatively young man, Tony persevered with the help of his family and friends, demonstrating a unique sense of strength and determination to survive. Having suffered a massive stroke in June of 2010 at the age of 60 which left him paralyzed and without the ability to speak, Tony fought diligently to rehabilitate himself, never losing his sense of humor, love for his family and friends, or his spark for life. For more than fifteen years, Tony continued onward, and in doing so, was blessed with the gifts of spending cherished time with his family, attending his son's wedding, and enjoying the births of his two twin grandsons which he adored. Tony's strength and determination continue to serve as an inspiration for all that knew him.
