Arlene Catherine (Deppe) Sandberg of Manahawkin, NJ passed away on June 30, 2022, at age 89.
Arlene was born in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ to Alfred and Helen (Kehoe) Deppe on May 13, 1933. She and her family were well known members of the community. She graduated Hasbrouck Heights High School in 1951 having been Captain of the cheerleaders, Prom Queen, and was voted most popular. After high school Arlene worked as a secretary for Mathesons in Rutherford, NJ. She left her position there after her marriage and starting a family. Arlene enjoyed being an at-home mother, raising her five children in Hasbrouck Heights and Upper Saddle River.
As her children grew, she re-entered the workforce as a word processor for Burn & Roe, in Oradell, NJ, until her retirement. She then retired to Manahawkin, NJ.
She was devoted to her children and grandchildren. Arlene enjoyed the simple things in life: knitting her famous warm blankets, a good card game, and word puzzles. She was an avid NY sports fan, cheering on The Giants, Yankees, Rangers, and Knicks.
Beloved mother of; Arlene Davis and her husband Wayne, Richard Sandberg and his wife Ann, Thomas Sandberg, Patricia Sandberg, and Nancy Severino and her husband Chris.
Cherished grandmother of; Joe, Arlene, Tyler, Trevor, Teresa, Kyle, Bailey, Weston, Kerry, Christopher, Eleanor, and Steven, and future great-grandson due this month. Arlene is also survived by her dear cousin Nancy (Kehoe) Bruno, many nieces and nephews, and her devoted friend Robert "Bob" Welch.
Arlene was predeceased by her brother Alfred Deppe.
She was all that a mother should be and will be deeply missed.
Funeral Service at Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Ave. Hasbrouck Heights on Wednesday, July 6th at 10:30 AM. Reverend Susan Nelson-Colaneri officiating. Interment following at Bay View Cemetery, Jersey City. Visitation Tuesday, July 5th from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
