Our Dear Mother Barbara J. Hofstetter (nee Bohnert) of Wood-Ridge and  formerly of East Rutherford sadly passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023 at the age of 88. Barbara was born on April 23, 1935 in Jersey City, NJ to Henry and Isabella Bohnert. Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband William Hofstetter, her parents Henry and Isabella Bohnert, brother Henry Bohnert, and son-in-law Richard Nikovits.

Barbara is survived by her children, Gary (Maureen) Hofstetter, Jean Nikovits, and Lynn (Victor) Costa, Grandson Gary Jr. (Melissa) Hofstetter, and Great Grandson Elijah Hofstetter.

She was a wonderful Mother who was always there when we needed her. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of her work and church community. We cannot have been any prouder to call her our Mom.

Barbara was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carlstadt where she served as Deacon, Treasurer and the Ladies Aide Society.

Barbara retired in 2000 after 30 years as East Rutherford Municipal Court Administrator. Barbara loved her job and was well respected by the East Rutherford Police, NJ State Police, and the many judges and attorneys she worked with throughout her years of service.

After retirement Barbara traveled the US and Europe with friends and family. She also volunteered at Angels Attic, a thrift store in East Rutherford run by community churches.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 29th from 3 - 7 PM at Costa Memorial Home, 170 Central Avenue (corner of Blvd.) , Hasbrouck Heights, NJ 07604. The Funeral Service is Thursday, November 30th at the funeral home at 11 AM with an interment following at Hillside Cemetery, 742 Rutherford Avenue, Lyndhurst, NJ 07071.
