Carmen Rosa Sanchez, age 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025. Born on July 16, 1932, in La Esperanza, Cuba, Carmen lived a life full of dedication, creativity, and adventure.

In 1972, Carmen and her family left Cuba to pursue a better life. First arriving in Madrid, Spain, and in 1974, settling in West New York, New Jersey. She built a new life surrounded by family and friends. Previously a schoolteacher in Cuba, but her childhood passion for sewing allowed her to gain employment in the garment industry near her home.  She was known for her beautiful handiwork and designs, always blessing her family with handcrafted, tailor-made clothing, most notably creating her daughter's wedding dress, along with many other outfits and costumes lovingly made for her granddaughters and others.

As a lifelong traveler, she explored many countries across Latin America, Europe, and Asia, enriching her life with diverse experiences and cultures.

Carmen is survived by her son Wilfred, her daughter Carmen and husband Humberto; grandchildren Julie, Cristina and husband Martin; great-grandchildren, Mila Rose and Ava Grace; and her loving godson, Guille.

She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfredo, and siblings Ramonin, Jose Maria ("Pepito"), and Maria Josefa ("Tati"). Her parents, Rosalia and Ramon, preceded her in death as well.

Carmen's legacy of love, creativity, and resilience will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Visitation on Tuesday, August 12th from 4 - 8 PM at Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights. Funeral Service on Wednesday, August 13th at 10 AM at Costa Memorial Home. Interment following at Grove Church Cemetery 1132 46th Street in North Bergen.
