Dennis M. Dinallo Sr. passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the age of 81.
He was the beloved husband of his high school sweetheart and best friend, Kathleen F. Dinallo, and a devoted father to Dennis Jr. and wife Liana, Chris and wife Laura, Kevin and wife Robyn, and Lisa (Rob). He also was a loving grandfather to ten grandchildren: Jordana, Matthew, Isabella, Lyla, Dylan, Sofia, Kenzy, Michael, Cody, and Briana, who brought him immense joy. Dennis’s love, guidance, humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed by his family and loved ones, and all who knew him.
Dennis grew up in Hasbrouck Heights, and the town was a part of who he was. From his earliest years to the end of his life, he carried a deep pride for his hometown and the close-knit community it fostered. Hasbrouck Heights wasn’t just where he grew up — it was where he chose to build his life, raise his family, and leave his mark. For decades, he coached Junior football, Little League and Babe Ruth baseball in town. Known simply as “Mr. D,” Dennis taught countless young athletes the fundamentals of the sports. For many years he volunteered as the high school’s unofficial artist — painting game balls and trophies to mark athletic milestones and achievements for many boys and girls.
Dennis’s love for Hasbrouck Heights ran deep, and nowhere was that more visible than on Friday nights under the lights. For over fifty-five years, Dennis was a fixture at Hasbrouck Heights Aviators football games, standing at the top of the bleachers every Friday night alongside his longtime buddies. In 2021, he was honored for his lifelong devotion to the Aviators program — a recognition that reflected the deep connection he had with the community.
Dennis was a man of many talents. A gifted artist, he had a natural eye and a steady hand. He was equally at home as a jack of all trades, the kind of man who could figure out how to fix, build, or craft just about anything.
Dennis will be remembered for the love he gave so freely, his loyalty to family and friends, his kindness, and the lasting impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His smile, his charm, his comforting bear hugs, his memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved, in the community he supported so faithfully, and in the countless lives he touched throughout the years.
Dennis was predeceased by his siblings Gerald Dinallo and Linda Chermark; brothers-in-law Jack Bollette, Edward Chermark, and Edward Zahn; and his sister-in-law Frances Sanzo. He is survived by his in-law siblings Mary Bollette, Lucille Dinallo, Ellen and Ignatius DePalma, Joanne Zahn, Michele and Joseph Zahn, and Ken Zahn; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
