Obituary

Eileen M. Martin (nee Almond) 92, of Wood-Ridge passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Born in Jersey City to the late Cecelia and Edward Almond. Eileen was a proud graduate of Dickinson High School, Class of 1950. Before retiring, Eileen was a bookkeeper for the Wood-Ridge Memorial Library and previously, she worked for NJ Bell Telephone Company. She was a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption of Our Blessed Lady in Wood-Ridge and a member of the Rosary-Altar Society where she held the office of Treasurer and Co-Chair of numerous Communion breakfasts. Eileen was also a member of the V.F.W. Post Auxiliary where she held the office of Chaplain for many years, the Wood-Ridge Contemporary Club and a longtime retreatant at San Alfonso Retreat House in Long Branch. In 2018, she was one of four honorees in the Wood-Ridge Memorial Day Parade to show appreciation for her years of service to the community. She enjoyed playing Mahjong, a good game of cards with her friends, and early on, was a gifted bowler. Eileen spent many a fun filled Saturday night at the Wood-Ridge Social Club with her husband Andy and their Wood-Ridge friends. Beloved wife of the late Andrew F. Martin. Devoted mother of Kathleen M. Schneider and her husband Brian and Edward A. Martin and his wife Susanne. Dear sister of Dolores Meyer and Joan Butkiewicz. Loving grandmother of Allison Casey (Robert), Andrew Schneider (Kristin), Jennifer Schneider, Susannah Martin and Annsley Martin. Cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews. Eileen is also survived by her longtime friends and her caregivers Lana, Ofelia and Khatia.

Funeral from Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Avenue Hasbrouck Heights on Saturday, July 13th at 10 AM. Funeral Liturgy from the Church of the Assumption of Our Blessed Lady in Wood-Ridge at 11 AM. Interment following at St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack. Visitation Friday, July 12th from 4 - 8 PM at the funeral home.
