Elizabeth E. Semenecz "Betty" (nee Evers) 99, of Hasbrouck Heights passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021. Born in Manhattan to the late Raymond and Anna Evers. Elizabeth worked as a telephone operator in Hasbrouck Heights during W.W.II, and then worked for the YMCA and the YMHA as a swim instructor and lifeguard, developing one of the first infant swim programs in the country. She also developed a popular senior water aerobics program. Elizabeth was a parishioner of Corpus Christi R.C. Church in Hasbrouck Heights since 1922 and was a member of the Rosary Society. She was also a former Girl Scout Leader and a committee member for forty years and a coach for the Bergen County Penguins Special Olympics team for fifty years until a year before her death. She received numerous awards including State Coach of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement Award. Beloved wife of the late Joseph G. Semenecz. Devoted mother of Kathleen Townsend, Judi Spannagel, Jim Semenecz and his wife Sheila, Chris Semenecz and his wife Jayne, Shawn Moesch and her husband Snapper and Colleen Semenecz. Dear sister of Mary Ana Bove, Ronald Evers and the late William and Peter Evers. Loving grandmother of twelve grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. Funeral from Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Ave. Hasbrouck Heights on Friday, March 26th at 9 AM. Funeral Liturgy from Corpus Christi R.C. Church at 10 AM. Interment following at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery, Lodi. Visitation Thursday, March 25th from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Special Olympics New Jersey would be appreciated.
