Obituary

Emma Frances Herr (nee Flach) 96, of Hasbrouck Heights passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Born in Hackensack Hospital to the late Theodore and Irma Emily Flach. Emma was a graduate of Hasbrouck Heights High School in 1943. She went on to earn her Bachelor Degree from Barnard College, N.Y. in 1947 and continued with studies for a Master's Degree at Columbia University Teacher's College. A life long resident of Hasbrouck Heights, Emma was extremely active in the community and the Methodist Church. For years Emma was active in the United Methodist Women on the local, district and conference levels serving in many capacities including President. A passion close to her heart was the United Methodist Women School of Missions for which she was on the Executive Board and involved in special music programs. In the Hasbrouck Heights community Emma was a long time President of the Friendly Neighbors as well as a founding member and long time worker for REACH. Before retiring, Emma was the organist and choir director at the Christ United Methodist Church in East Rutherford for 67 years. She was a member of the Christ First United Methodist Church in Hasbrouck Heights. Beloved wife of the late Warren E. Herr. Devoted mother of Jeffrey E. Herr and his wife Jeanette, Steven E. Herr and Andrea E. Herr and her husband Andrew Heisey. Dear sister of Mary McNaught, Barbara Flach and sister-in-law of Don McNaught. Loving grandmother of Aubrey Herr and Jay-Cee Herr and his wife Jackie. Funeral Service at the Christ First United Methodist Church in Hasbrouck Heights on Monday, August 30th at 10 AM. (All to meet at church). Interment following at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. Visitation Sunday, August 29th from 2-5 PM at Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Ave. Hasbrouck Heights. Memorial contributions to the Christ First United Methodist Church Burton & Division Avenues Hasbrouck Heights, NJ 07604 would be appreciated. Masks will be required upon entering the funeral home.
