Giovanni Amato 84, of Carlstadt formerly of Weehawken passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Born in Molfetta, Bari Italy to the late Marianna and Giovanni Amato and came to the United States in 1963. Giovanni served in the Italian Navy. Before retiring, he was a mason for Hartz Mountain in Secaucus and a member of the Laborers Union Local 325 in Jersey City. Beloved husband of Soccorsa Eva (nee Carrino) Amato. Devoted father of Mary Ann (Amato) Gagliano and her husband David and Graziella Amato. Dear brother of Anna Sciannamea and the late Michael, Saverio and Tonia Amato and Lina Failli. Loving grandfather of Giovanni S. Gagliano, Eva Grace Mendez, Leonardo D. Gagliano and Maxwell Joseph Mendez. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews.
