Obituary

Gregory Shenloogian, 97, of Hasbrouck Heights (formerly of Union City) passed away on Tuesday, January 10. Born in Union City to the late Nevart and Ohannes Shenloogian, Gregory was an Army veteran of W.W.II, recipient of a Purple Heart, and a member of V.F.W. Post 4591 and James B. Scarr American Legion Post 106. Before retiring, he was a photo engraver for Rodgers Engraving in New York City. Gregory was also a parishioner of Holy Cross Armenian Church in Union City, serving on the Parish Council and as a past president of the A.G.A.U.  When he returned home to the states in 1946, he played semi-football for the U.C. Indians in the J.E. Otis league.  As a running back he was high scorer and league mvp. A former player of the Hasbrouck Heights Men's Softball League, an avid bowler in multiple leagues, and enjoyed watching and attending all types of major sporting events. He was also a member of the Leisure Club in Hasbrouck Heights. Gregory loved to sing and dance with his wife at all affairs. Beloved husband of Alice (née Parseghian) Shenloogian. Devoted father of Steven Shenloogian and Gary Shenloogian and his wife Leanne. Dear brother of the late Carnig, Dr. Harry, Charlie and Virginia Shenloogian and Nector Kalustian. Loving grandfather of Mark and Casey Shenloogian. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday, January 13th from 3-7 PM at Costa Memorial Funeral Home on Boulevard and Central Ave in Hasbrouck Heights. Funeral on Saturday, January 14th at 8:15 AM from the memorial home. Funeral Service will be at St. Leon Armenian Church in Fair Lawn starting at 9:30 AM. Interment afterwards at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Memorial contributions to Holy Cross Armenian Church in Union City or to St. Leon Armenian Church in Fair Lawn would be appreciated.
