RIVER EDGE- Ivan O. Torres 70, of River Edge formerly of Glen Ridge and Newark passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico to the late Benigno and Telesfora. Ivan received his Masters Degree in Education from Keane University. Before retiring, he was Technology Coordinator for the Newark Public School System and previously, was an elementary school teacher in the Newark Public School System where he worked for thirty-seven years. Beloved husband of Lourdes (nee Pinuel) Alonso. Devoted father of Michael I. Torres (Melinda), Karen A. Torres Geary (Tom), Carlos A. Alonso, Alfredo J. Alonso (Kaicy) and Daniel A. Alonso. Dear brother of Eli A. Torres (Nilsa), David D. Torres (Natividad), Wilma N. Torres ( the late Pablo Muniz), Jorge A. Torres and the late Carmen N. Torres. Loving grandfather Stella, Derek, Kevin, Isabelle, Andrew, Leonardo, Alfredo and Sophia. Brother-in-law of Alberto Pinuel and his wife Claudia. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. Funeral from Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Ave. Hasbrouck Heights on Wednesday, January 6th at 9 AM. Funeral Liturgy from St. Michael's R.C. Church 70 Cianci St. Paterson at 10:30 AM. Private cremation will follow. Visitation Tuesday, January 5th from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
