Jacklyn Haines Van Wagner (née Jacqueline Haines of Jersey City, NJ, and formerly Jacqueline Cook of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) passed away on May 13, 2020 in her adoptive home city of Palm Springs, FL.  Born to Frank and Bertha Haines on November 13, 1942, she grew up in Jersey City and settled in Hasbrouck Heights, where she started a family. Shortly afterward, the family spent several years in Montreal, Canada, where she studied Anthropology and Women's Studies at Concordia University. After returning from Montreal, she attended Felician College in Lodi, NJ, and became the owner/proprietor of The Globe Book Shop in Hasbrouck Heights. She later relocated to Chicago, IL, where she worked as a Product Manager for Litton Identification Systems and various other companies.

Jackie was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who cared deeply and selflessly for her family and friends. Her dry wit, quiet intelligence and generosity of spirit left an indelible impression on everyone in her life, as did the unblinking strength with which she took on and overcame polio as a child and cancer as an adult. She was predeceased by her oldest son Christopher in 2015. She is survived by her son Eric Cook and his wife Annie; son lan Cook and his wife Susan; grandchildren Emma and Sailor Cook; older brother Robert Haines and his wife Thais; younger brother Dennis Haines and his husband Meliekum Branche-Haines; and former husband Pat Cook.

After numerous unfortunate delays due to the COVID19 Pandemic and related complications, a memorial service will be held for close friends and family at Costa Funeral home, 170 Central Ave, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ 07604, on Saturday August 20 from 2-5 pm. A brief repast/reception will follow at the Heights Bar and Grill, 163 Boulevard, Hasbrouck Heights, at 5:00 pm.
