Janet
Meyer
September 18, 1951 — November 30, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Janet Meyer, who left this world on Saturday, November 30, 2024, in Orlando, Florida, after a courageous and long-fought battle with multiple sclerosis. She was 73 years old.
Born on September 18, 1951, in Passaic, New Jersey, to Evelyn and Herman Tschumi, Janet grew up in Clifton, New Jersey, where she cultivated a vibrant spirit and a love for life that she carried with her wherever she went. She graduated from Clifton High School in 1969 and cherished the friendships and memories made during those formative years.
She was predeceased by her loving parents, Evelyn and Herman, her husband and soulmate, Michael "Mickey" Meyer, and her cherished companion, Eddie, the loyal pup who never left her side.
Janet lived most of her life in New Jersey, previously residing in Wood Ridge and Elmwood Park, where she built lifelong friendships and a home filled with warmth and love.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Janet's greatest joy was her family. She shared a deep and unbreakable bond with her children: Joseph Triola and his wife Teri, Jeffrey Triola, and Matthew Meyer and his wife Amanda. But her heart belonged to her grandchildren—Stephanie and Jeffrey Triola, Olivia and Enzo Triola, and Mickey, Macy, and Meadow Meyer—who were the absolute light of her life.
Her love for her husband Mickey was unparalleled. He was her world—her partner, her rock, and the love of her life. Their love story was one for the ages, and even after his passing, Mickey remained the center of her universe.
That said, the New York Yankees were not far behind. Janet was a fiercely loyal fan, and the team's performance often dictated her mood. Every game was a rollercoaster, and Janet was always ready for the ride. A win would make her day, and a loss—well, let's just say everyone knew to tread lightly.
And then there were her beloved soap operas. The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless were part of her daily routine, and everyone knew you don't mess with a woman and her soaps! If the Yankees were on and her soaps had to wait, well… the Yankees better have won.
Along with her children and grandchildren, Janet is survived by her brother Gary Tschumi, her brother-in-law Wayne Meyer and his wife Carol, and her sister-in-law Anne (Meyer) Dell'Olio and her husband Pete. She will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who were like family. Among those closest to her heart were her "sisters" in spirit, Gail Gadgev, Zina Hukowski, and Ruth Branciforte—friends who stood by her through every challenge and triumph.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12th, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, December 13th, at 11:00 AM at Costa Memorial Home, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Janet's memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, in hopes that future research will prevent others from enduring the challenges of this devastating disease.
Janet's resilience in the face of her illness was nothing short of inspiring. Her life was a testament to love, family, and unwavering courage. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
Rest in peace, Mom - We love you, and your light will forever shine in our hearts.
