Joan M. Nesbitt (nee Carpenter) 91, of Hasbrouck Heights passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. Born in Union City to the late Mildred and Harold Carpenter. In 1951, she was a secretary for America Fore Insurance Co. in New York City, in 1960, she owned Mister Softee Ice Cream Franchise, in 1962-1978, she became secretary and treasurer for the Hudson County Curb Service Inc., in 1975, she owned Nesbitt's Homemade Ice Cream Store and in 1976, she owned the Dairy Queen in Hackensack. Before retiring in 2013, Joan was an office worker and then a lunch aide and worked for the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education for 32 years. She was a member of the Leisure Club and the PTA Bowling League both in Hasbrouck Heights and a member of the AARP in Garfield and in Lodi. Joan enjoyed bowling, playing cards and in 1991 became a  line dancer and was a member of the Line Dancing group at the Hasbrouck Heights Senior Center, and the Garfield Senior Center.

Beloved wife of John J. Nesbitt. Devoted mother of John J. Nesbitt, Jr. and his wife Victoria. Loving grandmother of Nina, Anthony and Lucia Nesbitt, Katelyn and Karley Inwood and the late Giavanna "Gia" Nesbitt.

Funeral from Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Avenue Hasbrouck Heights on Monday, January 8th at 9:30 AM. Funeral Liturgy from the Church of the Assumption of Our Blessed Lady in Wood-Ridge at 10:30 AM. Entombment following at Garden of Memories, Township of Washington. Visitation Saturday, January 6th from 3 - 5 PM at the funeral home. No visitation on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Tomorrows Children's Fund would be appreciated.
