John Canavatchel 73, of Wood-Ridge passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Born in Bronx, NY to the late Francis and Grace Canavatchel. Before retiring, he worked for PathMark Supermarket in Paterson and was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1262. After his retirement, he became a school crossing guard for the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department. Beloved husband of the late Gail (nee Blackmer) Canavatchel. Devoted father of Paul Canavatchel and his wife Jillian and the late Mark Canavatchel. Father-in-law of Julie Canavatchel. Dear brother of Ann Canavatchel. Loving grandfather of Joseph, Michael and Angelina.

Funeral from Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Avenue Hasbrouck Heights on Monday, February 26th at 10:30 AM. Funeral Liturgy from Corpus Christi R.C. Church 260 Boulevard Hasbrouck Heights at 11:30 AM. Interment following at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation Sunday, February 25th from 5 - 8 PM at the funeral home.
