John Sferruzza, loving father, cherished grandfather, and respected professional, passed away peacefully in Boca Raton, Florida, on November 3, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on February 5, 1949, John was the son of the late Antonio and Libera (Sangillo) Sferruzza. He was a longtime resident of Lodi, New Jersey.
John served with honor in the U.S. Army. Following his service, he successfully dedicated his career to the steel industry. Guided by a deep belief in self-reliance and a fierce entrepreneurial spirit, John took pride in building success on his own terms. Away from work, John found peace and contentment at his farmhouse in Upstate New York, a cherished retreat where he was always happily engaged in his latest project and cultivating the simple life that brought him great joy.
John's greatest legacy is his loving family, which he built with Cynthia Sferruzza, the mother of his three children. He was a cherished father to Cher and her husband, Gerald O'Malley; Elizabeth Cook; and Anthony Sferruzza and his wife, Ana.
He was most profoundly a beloved grandfather to Maris, Dylan, Analia, and Isabella. His unconditional love and pride in his grandchildren brought immeasurable joy to his life.
John had a big heart and an unwavering belief in God. Beyond his immediate family, John held enduring affection for many others throughout his life. He is also survived by his beloved sisters, Maryann and Debbie, many cherished nieces, nephews, and relatives, and a wide circle of friends.
Services:
Family and friends are invited to attend a wake on Friday, November 14th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Costa Memorial Home, 170 Central Avenue ( corner of Boulevard ), Hasbrouck Heights, NJ 07604.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated the following day, Saturday, November 15th, at 10:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, 125 Union Street, Lodi, NJ 07644.
Flowers may be sent to Costa Memorial Home. Memorial donations may be made in John's name to support the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
