Jose Miguel Moreno, 89, of Maywood, NJ passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024.
Born in Bucaramanga, Santander, Colombia, South America, to the late Elena Moreno and Jose Miguel Medina. Jose Miguel Moreno lived a life marked by passion, dedication, and service to others.
Jose was an active parishioner of Most Holy Name R.C. Church in Garfield, NJ for more than 20 years contributing to his community with unwavering faith.
Jose Miguel was a dedicated businessperson, sports enthusiast, and educator. Over the years, he worked in and taught International Trade, sharing his knowledge and passion with others.
He also made a lasting impact as a gym, swimming, and Karate instructor, teaching discipline and strength to many students. His keen interest in relaxation techniques allowed him to bring comfort and peace to those around him, embodying his commitment to lifelong learning.
In his personal life, he enjoyed traveling, reading, researching, and expanding his knowledge.
He moved to the United States in 1996, where he made a new life in Secaucus and later moved to Lodi, and Maywood, NJ where he resided until his passing.
Beloved husband of Carmen (nee Caballero) Moreno. Devoted father of Carmen, Miguel and his wife Martha, and Margarita. Dear brother of Nelsa, Ignacio, Hugo, Ramon, and the late Gilberto. Loving grandfather of Emily Lukens and her husband Justin, Nellie Lavery and her husband Matthew, and Karla Moreno. Cherished great-grandfather of Isabella, Graciella, Nathan, and Lina. Cherished brother-in-law, uncle of many nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and godchildren.
Jose Miguel's legacy of dedication, love for family, and lifelong learning will continue to inspire all who knew him. He is remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the faith, warmth, generosity, and wisdom he shared with his loved ones.
Visitation Monday, January 6th from 6 - 8 PM at Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Avenue Hasbrouck Heights.
Funeral Liturgy from Most Holy Name R.C. Church 99 Marsellus Place in Garfield on Tuesday, January 7th at 9:30 AM. (All to meet at church).
