Joseph Picerno 99, of Wood-Ridge formerly of Hoboken passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023. Born in Hoboken to the late Lucia and Giovanni Picerno. Joseph was an Army veteran of W.W.II  in the 24th Infantry Division and the recipient of the W.W.II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. Joe's musical journey began at an early age. At 13 years old, he picked up his first guitar. By the time he was 18, he was playing venues throughout New Jersey and New York, with his band, the Bel Aires. He played professionally until he was in his late 50's. His love of music never diminished, over his long career. He also was a postal clerk for the U.S. Post Office in Secaucus. Beloved husband of the late Rose (nee Petruzzelli) Picerno. Devoted father of Lucy McLaughlin and her husband Jack and John Picerno. Dear brother of Gaetano Picerno and his wife Dorothy. Loving grandfather of Jaclyn Rose Kim and her husband James. Cherished great grandfather of Kobe Kim. Joseph is also survived by his many nieces and nephews and was a Godfather to several.

Funeral from Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Avenue Hasbrouck Heights on Thursday, May 25th at 10 AM. Funeral Liturgy from the Church of the Assumption of Our Blessed Lady in Wood-Ridge at 11 AM. Entombment following at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington. Visitation Wednesday, May 24th from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Pl.
