Kathleen Kinsley Hoffman (nee Chandless), 89 of Ellicott City Maryland, formerly of Evanston, IL and Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, passed away on Saturday, July 5th. Born in Elkins WV to the late Mary Frances O'Connor and Ralph W Chandless; Kathleen was a graduate of Trinity University in Washington, DC. She was the managing director of the Hasbrouck Heights Observer, the manager of Marlboro books and, at 60, Kate renewed her passport and became Director of US operations for Pierre Frey, a French home furnishings company. She was active in the Service Club of Chicago, worked as an election volunteer in both Cook County IL and Bergen County NJ, and was a member of the Hasbrouck Heights Garden Club. Kate was the much beloved mother of five; Kathleen Williamson (Alan), Elizabeth Allner (Allen), Robert Hoffman (Connie), Patricia Knudsen (Peter) and Christopher Hoffman, grandmother of 9 and great-grandmother of 6. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Robert Hoffman, her four siblings; James Chandless, Georgeanne Esmerado, Elizabeth Smith, and Ralph Chandless, and her grandson Christopher. The wake will be held at Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Ave. in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ on Thursday, July 10th from 5 to 7pm. There will be a Funeral Mass at Corpus Christi R.C. Church 260 Boulevard in Hasbrouck Heights on Friday, July 11th at 10am. A private burial will follow.
