Lawrence P. Zacche 93, of Wood-Ridge formerly of Jersey City passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021. Born in Jersey City to the late Antoinette and Dominic Zacche. He was an Army veteran serving from 1946-1947. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Upsala College in 1952 and his Master of Arts Degree from New York University in 1956. Lawrence began his teaching career at Cliffwood Elementary School in Cliffwood Beach from 1952-1953, then went on teaching English at St. Michael's High School in Jersey City from 1953-1954, Snyder High School in Jersey City from 1955-1962, Riverdell Regional School in Oradell from 1962-1963, North Bergen High School from 1963-1965, and then entered into the U.S. Peace Corps in Songea, Tanzania from 1965-1968, came to Nutley High School from 1968 until his retirement in June 1993. More recently, he was teaching ESL at the Wood-Ridge Library and the Episcopal Church of St. John the Divine in Hasbrouck Heights. Lawrence was a football coach for many years beginning at Snyder High School in Jersey City from 1956-1961, Riverdell Regional School in Oradell in 1962, North Bergen High School from 1963-1964, Nutley High School from 1968-1981, Paul VI High School in Clifton from 1982-1986 and then at Belleville High School. Beloved husband of the late Leona Zacche. His step-son; Paul Molinari. Dear brother of the late Anthony and Phillip Zacche and Angela Zacche Spina. Cherished uncle of Anthony Zacche, Philip Zacche, Annette Zacche-Forte, Gloria Spina- Mianulli, Robert Spina and the late Adrienne Zacche. Also survived by many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Memorial visitation at Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Ave. Hasbrouck Heights on Saturday, October 30th from 1-3 PM. Masks will be required upon entering the funeral home.
