Madeline Spies (nee Danza) 96, of Wood-Ridge departed this life on June 13, 2023. She was born on January 23, 1927 to Jenni and Joseph Danza. Her beloved husband Eugene Spies predeceased her in 2007. Madeline was also predeceased by her son Gary, her daughter Janet Lynch and her granddaughter Jessica.

Madeline is survived by her son Glenn, his wife Lauri and her daughter-in-law Karen. Her grandchildren; Jeffery and Brian Spies, Jeni Karas (Brian), Michael Lynch (Simrit), Matthew Lynch (Jillyan) and Kevin Lynch (Ashley), her great grandchildren; Declan and Ryan Lynch, Bennett and Margot Lynch, Theodore Lynch, Sloan and Riley Karas and her dog, Buttons. They were the joy of her life.

At the time of her retirement, Madeline was employed as a Certified Paralegal to the firm of Rosner and Feltman. Madeline and her husband enjoyed traveling in Europe and the USA and skiing out west. She was skilled at quilting and knitting and was an avid reader. Madeline was a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption of Our Blessed Lady in Wood-Ridge for over 67 years and served as a Eucharistic Minister, a past president of the Rosary Society, Chairperson of the Environmental Committee for many years and volunteered for many activities in the church, school, CCD and was a member of the Friends of the Library. In 2014, Madeline was awarded the great honor of being recognized for her services to the community of Wood-Ridge Memorial Foundation.

Funeral from Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights on Monday, June 19th at 9:30 AM. Funeral Liturgy from the Church of the Assumption of Our Blessed Lady in Wood-Ridge at 10:30 AM. Interment following at Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst. Visitation Sunday, June 18th from 2-6 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Wood-Ridge Memorial Library or to Amedysis Hospice would be appreciated.
