Maria C. Matteis (nee Violano) 91, of Secaucus a former resident of Union City for sixty years passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025. Born in Castelvetere, Sul Calore, Avellino, Italy to the late Adelina and Antonio Violano and came to the United States in 1963. Before retiring, Maria was a seamstress for J&M Fashions in Hoboken and a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Beloved wife of the late Salvatore Matteis. Devoted mother of Ciriaco (Scott) Matteis and his wife Daisy and Marina Uva and her husband Anthony. Dear sister of the late Biagio Violano. Loving grandmother of Luis Matteis and his wife Kim, Bianca Vadell and her husband Freddy, Stephanie Uva, Christina Gendron and her husband Tyler and Michael Matteis and his fiance Tiffany Fowles. Cherished great grandmother of Lucas and Gianna Matteis.
