Maria Scardigno (nee Camporeale) 89, of Hoboken passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021. Born in Molfetta, Bari, Italy to the late Carlo and Maria (nee DeCeglie) Camporeale and was raised by Rose (nee Minervini) Camporeale and Maria came to the United States in 1943. Beloved wife of the late Cosmo Scardigno. Devoted mother of Maria Louise Verdonck and her husband John and Rose Marie McInerney and her husband Dennis. Dear sister of Ignazio Camporeale and his wife Arlene, Claire Tattoli and her husband Sergio, Isabella Cappelluti and her late husband Michael and Catherine DePinto and her husband Nino. Sister-in-law of Carmella Gagliardi and her late husband Cosmo, Mary Cappelluti and the late Dominick and Mary Scardigno and Samuel and Florence Scardigno. Loving grandmother of Jennifer Verdonck and her husband William Elbert, John Verdonck and his wife Ashley, Dennis McInerney and his wife Blake, Christopher Verdonck and his wife Jessica and Michele McInerney. Cherished great grandmother of Cole Alexander Verdonck. Maria was devoted to family, faith and friends. She was a longtime parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul R.C. Church in Hoboken and was an active member of the Holy Rosary Society. Maria was also a member of the senior group at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Jersey City. Prior to retirement, she worked in the garment industry with a focus on women's outerwear.
