Obituary

WOOD-RIDGE- Marie Sarracino passed away peacefully at home on December 17th after a brief battle with lymphoma. Marie was born in New York City on March 22, 1925 to Bernard and Catherine Ret. She grew up on a farm in Moonachie and graduated from East Rutherford High School. She married Aurelio Sarracino in September 1947, and they built their forever home in Wood-Ridge shortly after, where they spent many happy years and raised their seven children.

Her faith was an integral part of who she was, and was an active member of Assumption Church, she belonged to Catholic Daughters and the PTA which allowed her to made a positive impact on so many others. Marie was also a Cub Scout den mother. She kept her house spotless and her love of cooking made her legendary. After retiring, Marie and Aurelio spent time traveling and visiting family in Thailand, Italy and Canada. They also enjoyed attending Naval ship and Navy salvage divers reunions, which allowed them to visit almost every state.

She is survived by Aurelio, her husband of 73 years; Three daughters- Irene McCall and her husband Craig, Ellen Thomson and her husband John, and Geralyn Korin and her husband John. Two sons, Stephen and his wife Joanne and Thomas and his wife Lisa. She is predeceased by two sons Ronald and Paul, and her beloved sister Louise Ret. She was the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She also had a very special friendship with her cousin, Rosie Spirito, her sister-in-law Phyllis Sarracino and cousin Anthony Ciavaglia. Funeral Liturgy from the Church of the Assumption of Our Blessed Lady in Wood-Ridge on Monday, December 21st at 10 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marie's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).
