Marilyn J.
Derussy
October 27, 1935 — May 12, 2023
It is with profound sadness that our family shares the passing of our Mom, Grammy, and Sister, Marilyn Jean deRussy. Born and raised in Wallington, NJ, she was the devoted wife of former Hasbrouck Heights Councilman, Rene Byron deRussy. The couple met while working together at Curtiss-Wright. Marilyn's mom insisted they delay their marriage, because "21 was too young!". Married on May 16, 1959, they raised their family in Byron's hometown of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. Through their service to their community, Marilyn worked tirelessly alongside Byron through the Republican Club, the Mayor's Celebrations Committee, the Contemporary Club, and as a family member of the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department. For over thirty years, Marilyn was the Registrar of Vital Statistics for the Borough of Hasbrouck Heights, where she proudly rebuilt the department after the devastating Borough Hall fire of December, 2000. Her efforts were used by the State of New Jersey for future disaster recovery plans.
Marilyn, a lifelong member of Saints Peter and Paul Polish National Catholic Church, Passaic, NJ, was a leader of the St. Mary's Girls Sodality. She was currently serving as vice president to the Church's Executive Board of Directors, a position she held for many years. Marilyn was also a Girl Scout Leader for the Bergen County Council of Girl Scouts, and remained active long after her own daughters left scouting. She was a member of the Hasbrouck Heights Leisure Club and the Maywood Senior Citizens Club.
As we grieve our immeasurable loss, we know that we have a lifetime of wonderful memories to cherish. Marilyn was blessed with her two daughters, SuzAnne deRussy Pacala and her husband, Michael, and Renee deRussy Mucciolo and her husband, John. Grammy was especially proud of her "boys", William and his wife, Kaitlin Hennighan Pacala, John Ross Mucciolo, and Alexander Rene Mucciolo. She will be missed by her brother Richard, and his wife, Vivian Marciniak. To all her many friends, we thank you for your kindness and support, and we share in your sadness. May everyone's favorite memories bring them comfort.
