Milagros Ruiz of New York City passed away on Sunday March 22, 2026. Lovingly remembered by her children, Blanca and John

It is hard to find the right words to describe what an amazing person our mom was.  There were so many moments we shared together and great stories to tell but in this time of honoring her memory while valuing her reserved nature, we will note her attributes.

Our mom was a gentle spirit who adored animals and loved children.  She was deeply nurturing and showed kindness and compassion to all. Feeding the squirrels or enjoying a cup of coffee while watching the birds out of her window made her day.  Her innocent demeanor and sweetness brought a smile to many faces.  She was lovable as she approached life with childlike wonder.  A simple trip to the zoo would induce such a sense of awe which we found so amusing.

She was an artist who found great joy in creating and sharing her art, choosing vibrant color palettes.  Mom also enjoyed nature and gave lots of love to her many plants and flowers.  White orchids were her favorite and she was just as beautiful, delicate and graceful as her favorite flower.

She had such an endearing nature that everyone would call her mom and she loved that.  Her fun personality, unique sense of humor and all of her nuances will be missed.

God blessed us with a devoted mom who was happy to give us everything she could, even when she had nothing left for herself and we will treasure her always.

Funeral Liturgy from Corpus Christi R.C. Church 260 Boulevard in Hasbrouck Heights on Tuesday, April 7th at 11:30 AM. Inurnment following at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Arrangements are by Costa Memorial Home in Hasbrouck Heights.
