Obituary

Reverend Thomas Stephen Wisniewski 67, of Franklin Lakes passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022. Born in Jersey City to the late Frank and Irene Wisniewski. Father Tom was a graduate of St. Peter's University in Jersey City where he received his Bachelors Degree, he received his Masters Degree from Immaculate Conception Seminary and his Ph.D Degree from Drew University. Father Tom served his Deaconate at St. Peter The Apostle R.C. Church in River Edge and was ordained a Priest in the Archdiocese of Newark on May 31, 1980 by Archbishop Peter L. Gerity. Father Tom served as a Parochial Vicar at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Bergenfield, Church of the Annunciation in Paramus, St. Raphael's R.C. Church in Livingston, was appointed Pastor at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Maplewood from 1996-2002 and served as a Parochial Vicar at Corpus Christi R.C. Church in Hasbrouck Heights. He also served as Chaplain at Paramus Catholic High School. Father Tom was involved in high school and in college education. Before retiring on September 13, 2021, Father Tom was Pastor at St. Catharine R.C. Church in Glen Rock. He was an avid sports fan of the N.Y. Giants, N.Y. Mets and the St. Peter's Peacocks where he took joy in watching them make the Sweet Sixteen and the Elite Eight. Dear brother of Judith Ann Strand and her late husband Jon. Cherished uncle of Kirsten Raffel and her husband Zak and Jon Strand, Jr. Great uncle of Aiden, Noah and Tyler. A Concelebrated Mass will be offered at St. Catharine R.C. Church 905 Maple Avenue Glen Rock by his classmate, Auxiliary Bishop Gregory J. Studerus, on Tuesday, May 3rd at 11 AM. Interment following at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Visitation Monday, May 2nd from 4-8 PM with the Vigil Service at 7 PM at Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Avenue Hasbrouck Heights.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Lustgarten Foundation, the ECLC Foundation in Chatham or to Family Promise in Ridgewood.
