Obituary

Robert "Bob" Francis Farrell, a long-time resident of Maywood, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

Born in Bayonne to the late Catherine "Kay" and Anthony "Buddy" Farrell, Bob was a graduate of Bayonne High School and Jersey City State College, where he earned his B.A. Degree. He was an Army veteran serving in Korea during the Vietnam War era. He held various managerial positions at Avon, Anheuser-Busch, and Estee Lauder, and ended his career at Phillips 66 in Linden.

Beloved husband of 43 years of Barbara (nee Masella) Farrell. Devoted father of Genevieve (Robert Fisk III), Robert (Natalie), and Francesca. Dear brother of Sister Ellen Farrell, SC, and sister-in-law Ellen. Predeceased by his brother Thomas and sisters Jeanette Hartnett (Bobby) and Cathy Conti (Thomas). He cherished his role of "Uncle Robert" for many years, to all nieces and nephews.

Bob's talents and interests were many; a musician to his core, he played the trumpet his entire life, marched in and instructed numerous drum corps, and composed his own music. He was a sports enthusiast who coached his children in baseball, softball, and basketball, and loved the Giants even on their worst days. In his spare time, he could be found tending to his vegetable garden, building model train displays, deeply immersed in a history book, or finishing off a crossword puzzle. He was a member of the Maywood Knights of Columbus Council 3426 and the Maywood American Legion Post 142. Bob was also a member of the Bayonne Catholic War Veterans Post 1612. He was a former member of the St. Andrews Bridgemen Drum and Bugle, the New York Skyliners Alumni Corp, and the Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights Alumni Corps. He was proudly inducted into the Drum Corps Hall of Fame.
