Thomas J. Bulger 85, of Lodi formerly of Jersey City passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Born in Jersey City to the late Mary and Thomas Bulger and was raised by his step-father John Norton. Thomas graduated from St. Michael's High School in Union City in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961. After his discharge, he went to work for the Pennsylvania Railroad where he was schooled and trained to become an engineer which he did in 1962. He then went on to work for Conrail and later to NJ Transit where he retired in 2002 after 40 years of service as a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Thomas was an active parishioner of St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church in Lodi where he was an usher for many years. He was inducted into the Paramus Catholic High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001 for his many years of dedicated service as a member of the Father's Club. His work included many fundraising activities that raised the funds needed to run the many sports programs. Beloved husband of Antoinette (nee Lefanto) Bulger whom he married on June 8, 1963. Devoted father of Thomas J. Bulger, Jr. and his wife Kristina and Joanne Inglesby and her husband Brian. Dear brother of the late Mary Toth, John Norton, Robert Norton, Marilyn Wright, Gertrude Dobres and Patricia Jolicoeur. Loving grandfather of Alexander Bulger, Nicole Garfi and her husband Salvatore, Amanda Bulger, Kristen Inglesby and Erika Bulger. Cherished great grandfather of Salvatore Garfi.
Funeral from Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Avenue Hasbrouck Heights on Saturday, February 24th at 9 AM. Funeral Liturgy from St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church 125 Union Street Lodi at 10 AM. Interment following at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation Friday, February 23rd from 4 - 8 PM at the funeral home.
