Obituary

Virginia T. Polesovsky, affectionately known as Ginny, 95, of Bayville, NJ, formerly of
Maywood and Franklin Lakes, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 9th, 2025. She was
predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Polesovsky, in 2016.
Born in Manhattan, NY, to Mary (nee Krajec) and Arthur Sammis, Virginia's early years were
marked by tragedy, as her mother passed away when Virginia was only nine years old. Raised by
her loving grandparents, Barbara and John Krajec, in the Bronx, Virginia's strong sense of
family and community was nurtured from a young age.
Virginia was an only child, but that would soon change when she met her lifelong soulmate, Joe
Polesovsky. Through their union, she gained eight wonderful brothers and sisters-in-law, with a
special bond to her mother-in-law, Mary, and father-in-law, Louis. Together, Virginia and Joe
raised a loving family, moving to Maywood, NJ, where they raised their children: Arthur,
Barbara, Craig, and Denise, affectionately known as the "ABCD kids."
Virginia had a zest for life and many talents. She was an avid skier, roller skater, swimmer,
horseback rider, yacht woman, and artist. She had a special love for animals, which led her to
volunteer for an animal rescue, and her home was always filled with furry friends—raccoons,
rabbits, ducks, cats, and dogs, just to name a few. Visitors to their Franklin Lakes home were
often welcomed by the sight of a menagerie roaming freely in the yard, bringing joy and a touch
of magic to every gathering. Their home was always open to family and friends, and they hosted
grand family reunions, sometimes with over 75 people in attendance.
But more than any hobby or interest, Virginia's greatest joy was her family. Her summers with
Joe were a treasured time, filled with boating, swimming, fishing, and laughter with her
grandchildren. These memorable and cherished activities continued when Virginia and Joe
retired to Bayville, NJ. They enjoyed winters spent with family and friends in the Florida Keys.
Virginia's love and care extended beyond her family. She always had room for one more guest—
whether they needed a helping hand or a place to stay. She was the epitome of selflessness and
warmth, and her home was a place where people always felt welcome.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Tallwoods Rehabilitation
& Nursing Center in Toms River, NJ, for their loving care during Virginia's time of need. A
special thank you also goes to the team at Hospice for ensuring her comfort in her final days, and
to Fr. Carlos from St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church for his kindness and prayers.
Virginia was a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her
kindness, her love, and her spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a
legacy of love, laughter, and endless memories.
Beloved wife of the late Joseph E. Polesovsky. Devoted mother of Arthur Polesovsky and his wife Sue, Barbara Brown and her husband Richard, Craig Polesovsky and his wife Francesca and Denise Vulgaris and her husband James. Loving grandmother of Justin Gill, Sara Olivarez, Craig Polesovsky, Richard Brown II, Joseph Curreri, Brandon Brown, Dane Brown, Mia Alvarez, Ian Polesovsky, Ivy Polesovsky, Derek Polesovsky, Christian Costa, Leo Costa and Makenzie Vulgaris and the late Deanna Franklin. Cherished great grandmother of A.J. Olivarez, Alexandra Brown, Caroline Brown, Richard Brown III, Daniel Brown, Ember Brown, Anthony Durante, Andrew Durante and Savannah Griscavage.

She will forever be in our hearts.
