William "Bill" G. Pols, Jr.

William G. Pols, Jr. 90, a longtime resident of Hasbrouck Heights, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026 after a short illness.

Born July 18, 1936, in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late Margaret and William Pols, Sr. On June 11, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Joan Pols, and together they shared 64 loving years of marriage until her passing in 2019.

William earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was a licensed electrical contractor for 30 years, during which he owned and operated his own electrical contracting company. He also devoted 38 years of service to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as an electrical inspector before retiring.

William proudly served in the New Jersey Army National Guard from 1957 to 1962, attaining the rank of Sergeant with the Howitzer Battery, 2nd Reconnaissance Squadron, 102nd Armored Cavalry.

A devoted father and proud grandfather, William is survived by his children, William Pols III and his wife Dawn of Pennsylvania, and Lisa Pols and her wife Gila Manasse of River Edge, NJ; and his beloved grandchildren, McKenna Drascic (Fred), Will Pols, Benjamin Manasse-Pols, and Montgomery Manasse-Pols. He is also survived by his sister, Constance Huettemann (John), and his nieces and nephews, including Linda Chiariello (Vinny), Robert, Gary, John and Alicia Ruschke, and their families.

William was deeply committed to his family and community. He served as a Little League umpire and baseball coach and was President of the Junior Football League for four years. He was especially proud of his service as an auxiliary police officer, a role he truly loved and which reflected his dedication to the community of Hasbrouck Heights.

He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, and his many years of service to the community. William took great pride in his family and valued the many friendships he made throughout his life. His dedication and kindness will be remembered by those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to William’s caregivers, Maria, Robert, and Sean, as well as the teams at Applause Home Care and Valley Hospice, for the kindness, compassion, and dedicated care they provided to him.

Funeral Services at Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights on Wednesday, August 19th at 10:30 AM. Interment following at Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth. Visitation Tuesday, August 18th from 4–8 PM at the funeral home.
